From E-Learning Faculty Modules
A digital presentation was created for the Colleague 2 Colleague SIDLIT conference in August 2012. A full-screen version of that presentation is available here Building and Analyzing Node-Link Diagrams to Understand Social Networks
- Node-link diagrams are used for a variety of visualizations, not only social networks. However, these do show entities and relationships.
- Node-link diagrams may reveal some insights about social networks; however, they need to be used with the quantitative data as well as other contextual information about the social network.
- Plenty of research has been done on social networks, with insights from human socializing, the diffusion of innovation, population health, power, and higher education, among others.
- UCInet is one of the technologies that may be used to explore and express social networks in node-link diagrams (as well as many other types).
